JME News

The cleanup from Hurricane Ian is underway and the question of who will pay for the damages is heating up. The Wall Street Journal had an excellent article on the shaky Florida insurance market. Florida has a unique blend of under-insured homeowners, over-reliance on the reinsurance market and an aggressive plaintiffs’ bar. At issue is the coverage specifics of traditional homeowners insurance versus flood insurance. Florida has seen most national insurers leave the State and the homeowners have fewer options to turn for coverage. At JME we’re following the insurance questions very closely and our complex litigation team is here to assist those with questions.
